1. Full-time Family Remodeled Travel Trailer
For many of us, the idea of renovating an RV can be intimidating, and we might worry that doing so will take us many months. But for this family of five, they tackled their home renovations in only two weeks!
This wasn’t their first rodeo: they’d done RV renovations before. But this one was for their planned full-time future travels, so they wanted it to be just right for full-time living. Chris and Drew turned their 2013 Keystone Sprinter 311BHS from a dated look into a cozy, functional home on wheels.
2. From Dingy to Dreamy
This RV went from dingy and dark (the mattress was especially showing its age) to bright and beautiful! From headboard to window treatments, they made a lot of upgrades that have a big impact.
I like that they decided to keep the mirrored door – it really helps to add light and space to the room.
3. Pop-Up Camper Remodel
While it doesn’t seem very common to invest a lot of time and energy into a pop-up camper remodel, Lisa shows what’s possible with an inexpensive rig and a little creativity.
Though the “before” versions can look humble, dated, and dark, some color swap can really open everything up and take the pop-up camper from humdrum to full of life.
4. Airstream International Overlander Overhaul
Leslie Barbazette and Jay Morgan transformed this 1965 Airstream completely in this renovation. Since the original vehicle had no bathroom and a single bed, it had lots of room for improvement.
They did some amazing things here, including custom shelving, custom artwork, and a sofa replacement. They got especially creative sourcing their lighting fixtures.
5. Off-Grid Fifth Wheel on a Budget
Who’d have believed you could completely transform a fifth wheel for less than $2,000? This couple made it happen.
This 1999 fifth wheel had old, very heavy furniture and a very outdated look. With changes like updated lighting fixtures and a beautiful green paint on the kitchen cabinets, they made a big impact on a small budget.
Read more about their project here: This Couple Renovated a 25-year-old Fifth Wheel for Under $2,000!
6. Travel Trailer Redo
After the folks at @the_path_we_take redid their fifth wheel and took it on the road, they realized they’d prefer to have a travel trailer for full-timing. So they got to work on another camper remodel before and after project.
Their original RV was super out of date, with a mediocre mattress and a “brown on brown on brown” palette. But with some bright blues and yellows and a much more modern eye, they were able to transform this travel trailer into something special. This one had an even smaller budget of $1500!
7. Gutted Airstream into Off-Grid Home
While for most of us, the goal of an RV remodel is to make it a little more functional and fashionable, this couple did everything from new water tanks (it’s surprisingly simple!) to a self-composting toilet as part of a completely new bathroom.
An old relic of an RV became a modern oasis in their hands, and in addition to the glamorous look, they added practical features like extra storage under the dining booth, benches, and bed.
8. Glitzy Travel Trailer Remodel
This remodel took a super dark and dated design and changed it to a glitzy, art deco home that you’d never believe was an RV. Using tricks like peel and stick tile in the kitchen as well as new light fixtures, wallpaper, paint and curtains, this is a must-see.
9. 2000 Monaco Update
This Class A motorhome went from a truly dated look to a beautiful coastal oasis. Before the renovation, the dark wood made the vehicle look smaller. By adding pale oak flooring and white cabinets, it feels bright and open.
Though they did a lot of custom work, it would also be fun to see how well you can recreate their version with more off the shelf pieces and great use of paint!
10. Old-School Traveling Style
This 1963 Shasta Compact looked like a small (11’), cute, vintage trailer. But these folks decided they wanted to go even more vintage!
Inspired by the stories of traveling Roma people, this gorgeous style truly makes this RV stand out.
11. Toy Hauler Conversion
This 2006 Thor Vortex toy hauler opened up all sorts of possibilities for Amelia and Dave of @BBandtheRV. This is their 11th remodel, a skill they began exploring in the early days of the pandemic.
While the original toy hauler was roomy but very off the shelf, they really thought of everything with this renovation, from the gorgeous, refined color scheme in a neutral palette with dark wood cabinets to an imported wallpaper, to a swing that come down from the ceiling for extra seating!
12. Toddler-Resistant Travel Trailer Upgrade
Shawna is a mom who purchased a brand new 2023 Jayco travel trailer for traveling with her toddlers. An interior designer and a mom, she wanted a comfortable traveling home for her family, modeling the RV after her own home.
Shawna kept the original cabinets, original floors, dinette seating, and the couch. It’s amazing what wallpaper, paint in the main living area, and some strategic improvements can do to customize your space.
13. Stunning Travel Trailer Transformation
This toy hauler bucks the trend and uses its garage in the back as part of the main living space. This gives it an open floor plan, with everything in the RV serving multiple purposes, including that the stools can be used to get into the drop-down bed.
You can tell these folks are professionals, and there’s lots of inspiration to be found here. It sleeps five too!
14. RV Turned Spaceship
This looks like you’re at a theme park or something. These owners wanted a spaceship, and the renovators sure delivered. Understandably, much of this is custom work. It started out with a fairly typical, nice RV, full of dark woods. And then they got creative. It’s really wild what happens when the sky isn’t even the limit. (Get it?)
15. Class C Motorhome Turned Mobile Dog Rescue
This RV began as an old-school, darker looking class C RV, looking stuck in the past and like its best days were behind it. Thanks to rain2shine ventures, “Woof Way” was created, with a dog bath station that doubles as an exam/care area, removal of things like the fridge that wouldn’t be helpful, and replacing rotten wood and windows as needed along the way. The rotten loft was also completed removed.
The final design is really cute and super functional!
16. From Beige to Bold on a Budget
This affordable and charming redesign by the Wandering Wilsons was done on a budget. They live in a 2006 Winnebago Adventurer 37B, a class A motorhom they purchased in 2022.
They took it from clean but boring to ANYTHING but. It’s charming, colorful, and and functional, mixing boho-chic and mid-century modern fabrics with a subtle hexagon motif and colorful painted details.
17. Dark Fifth Wheel Sees the Light
Victoria and Chaz Jones converted this camper for full-time living with two young kids and an Aussie mix all under one roof. They converted this 2013 Heartland Landmark Rushmore into a brighter, contemporary RV home.
To improve the dark look of the original, they painted the walls white, replaced flooring, painted cabinets, and even redid the countertops to brighten things up.
18. Traveling Trailer Transformation
Morgan Jones and her husband traveled full-time in this 2011 Keystone Outback 250RS Reno. The original design was full of browns and beiges and screamed “RV”, but their updated look couldn’t be more charming and homey. They had a great setup for off-the-grid adventures too.
They also created two separate office spaces to work from home with Starlink internet, turning the bunk space at the front into an art studio with two desks. With space for guests, this is a really impressive transformation. You can see the camper remodel before and after in the photos below:
19. Two Week Turnaround
Renovator Erin Cherry purchased this 17-foot 2002 Nomad Skyline and within two weeks, she and her husband Jordan had renovated it and listed it for sale!
With conventional RV wood and very dated cushion patterns, this RV wasn’t anything to write home about, but with Erin’s skill, cultivated early in the pandemic (eight RVs in their free time to date!), they’ve gotten better and better at approaching each RV conversion. For this one, they kept the footprint the same, using paint and fresh upholstery for an updated look.
20. From Vintage to Like New
This 1949 Traveleer wasn’t too old for Vintage Camper Trailers to take it on! They managed to keep the original floor plan, with a full-sized bed, stove, sink, and dining booth.
They were able to keep and restore the original wood cabinets and paneling too. And since all the windows were intact, lots of light comes inside. They chose bright green to give the dining booths some color. There are lovely vintage touches throughout.
21. Family RV with Ikea Upgrades
Tiffani Borkon updated her 2022 Coachmen Catalina Legacy Edition travel trailer for her family. What started out as a very basic, drab design with very limited storage options became a colorful, customized home for her and her family.
Though they kept to the layout, they updated it with all the extra equipment they need to hit the road, host guests, or work from home. She used lots of bins, a mattress, an ottoman, a storage sofa, and lots of other accessories from curtains to storage stools from IKEA.
22. Colorful Fifth Wheel Update
This 2019 Forest River Impression 27MKS was renovated to be a full-time home for a family of four. The RV originally was very dark, and it felt more like a hotel room than a cozy place for a family to live full-time.
After the renovation, this fifth wheel is absolutely gorgeous, with striking colors reminding me of the Southwest. And they truly made it their own, removing the television from the living room and adding a foldout floor table with meditation cushions, a recycling/waste station, and much more to accommodate their own family’s needs.
23. Toy Hauler Garage Turned Master Bedroom
This family of four decided to move into a 325 Wolf Pack 13 fifth wheel. They bought it brand new and wanted to convert the toy hauler section into a modern bedroom.
This RV does a wonderful job of showing what’s possible with a blank slate! A king size mattress, string lights, a leather pouf, and beautiful wooden drawers are part of what make it so special.
24. Travel Trailer Remodeled in Just 2 Weeks
Chris and Drew, a soon-to-be-retired military family, have transformed their 2013 Keystone Sprinter 311BHS into a stylish yet practical home on wheels for their family of five, featuring a coveted two-bedroom layout perfect for full-time living.
