Ashley Mann spent three years living full time in a 38-foot, 5th-wheel RV with her husband Josiah and their cat, Kitty. Her favorite thing about RV life is the challenge of finding the perfect way to organize a space, and she loves seeing all the creative and clever ways people come up with to customize their RVs.
The factory-installed dinette booth set or table and chairs is often one of the most inefficient uses of space in a camper or motorhome. Here are 13 RV dining table options to replace your dinette that would add extra storage and free up valuable space for other uses.
Drop-leaf table with shelves
Where to buy it:
What I love about it:
Not only does it have a shelf for storage (and you could use tension rods to hold items in place during travel), but with the drop leaf down it would take up so little space. And, the price is quite affordable for a dining set.
Drop-leaf counter height table
Where to buy it:
What I love about it:
If you are short on counter space, a counter height table like this one would would give you extra room for meal prep as well as taking up less space than a traditional dining booth or table and chairs. If you only use one or two stools on a daily basis, you could keep a couple of extra folding bar stools on hand for when guests visit.

Murphy desk
Where to buy it:
What I love about it:
Even though it’s intended to be used as a desk, I think this wall mounted folding table would make a great eating space for just one person. It could also provide extra countertop space in an RV kitchen.
Table with storage ottoman seats
Where to buy it:
What I love about it:
So much storage! The seats would make a great place to store shoes, extra bedding, toys, pet food, tools, pots and pans, kitchen appliances….

Counter height drop-leaf table with drawers
Where to buy it:
What I love about it:
Similar to the one above, but the drop leaves are on the ends, which might be a better fit for some spaces.

Basic counter height table
Where to buy it:
What I love about it:
This table would add extra counter space as well as a place to sit to have a meal.

Drop-leaf table with storage
Where to buy it:
What I love about it:
This table takes up very little space when both sides are folded down, and yet its drawers would add storage to your RV. Also, the wheels would allow it to easily roll out of the way when it’s folded down.
Expanding Shaker style table
Where to buy it:
What I love about it:
This table is basically magic: It can stay small for day-to-day use and then expand to seat guests. You could get a set of wooden folding chairs to go with it.

Small drop-leaf table with drawer
Where to buy it:
What I love about it:
This drop-leaf table has a mid-century modern flair to it with it’s tapered legs. And, there’s a bonus storage drawer.

Desk with storage shelves
Where to buy it:
What I love about it:
Since it’s really a desk, it might be too narrow for two people to sit at, but for a single person trying to be as efficient with space as possible, it’s a really unique style. I can also see how you could make something like this by placing a console table in front of a cube storage shelf.

Basic folding card table
Where to buy it:
What I love about it:
Along with a few folding stools, you could fold this card table up and store it out of the way and turn your former dining area into extra living space, or you can take it outside to use for condiments and side dishes during a barbecue.
- [Sturdy & Stable] The card table frame is made of high-quality Commercial-grade steel, E-1 grade MDF top ensures durability and long-lasting.

Apparently you have never been in an RV! None of the items listed on this page will work in a motor home or trailer because they are not secure to the floor, can’t accommodate transfer to a full size bed, and have sharp edges.
Actually, I lived in an RV for three years, and I removed all of the furniture that came with my RV and replaced it with residential furniture. Some of it I secured to the floor with the use of D-rings, some of it I held in place with bungee cables, and some was so solid there was no chance it was going to budge.
‘L’ brackets are the way to go. There’s nothing RV about our 5th wheel. It’s totally furnished with normal furniture. When we move it, we simply bungee the chairs and everything else to something that’s secure, close it up and head out. Whoever made that rude statement has absolutely no ability to think outside the box, modify, or improve on anything that’s already in place. Oh well, takes all kinds.

Awesome blog! Do you have any tips and hints for aspiring writers? I’m planning to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost on everything. Would you recommend starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many options out there that I’m totally confused .. Any recommendations? Appreciate it!|
I am looking for advice. We need to purchase a table and four chairs for our 5th wheel. Do you think a round table would save on room? Or would a rectangle be better? I hope the right pic is posted cause I can’t figure out how to change it.
Thanks
Hmmm…It probably depends on the table, and I think you have enough space there that you could do either! 🙂
We have a permanent site camper these would work great in
