With this free download you can print spice labels just like the ones I used on these tins for my magnetic spice wall:

These labels are designed to be printed with either an inkjet or laser printer on clear round Avery #5248 labels.

The free download file includes 9 pages of labels with over 100 unique spices, herbs, and spice blends, including those commonly used in both American and international cooking, as well as many that are more obscure. 15 duplicate labels are also included for spices that often come in more than one form (like cloves, which may be whole or ground, for example).

Instructions for printing:

  1. Click here to view and print and/or download the spice labels PDF.
  2. Print a test copy on a piece of regular 8.5″ x 11″ (U.S. Letter) paper. Make sure “fit to page” or “fill entire paper” is not selected. Hint: When printing a test page, I always mark the paper with an arrow before printing so that I can tell the correct direction to put the paper in the tray.
  3. If everything looks good, put 9 pages of Avery #5248 labels into the paper tray. Depending on your printer, you may need to adjust the walls of the tray to a narrower width.
  4. Change the paper size to 4″ x 6″.
  5. Make sure “fit to page” or “fill entire paper” is not selected. Scale should be set at 100%.
  6. Change “print all” to just print Page 1 – again, just to make sure everything is working properly.
  7. If Page 1 looks good, print pages 2-9.
  8. Download this alphabetical list of all the spices so that you can easily tell if the one you need is included.
