If you're looking for a replacement RV sofa, why not get an RV couch with storage to make the space occupied by the couch more efficient? An RV sofa with hidden storage is a great place to store extra bedding, throw pillows, board games, books, and more.
Where to Buy an RV Couch with Storage
There are furniture manufacturers that make jackknife sleeper sofas in various lengths that feature a storage drawer underneath. You can even custom order these RV sleeper sofas in your choice of color.
One place to purchase a custom RV sleeper sofa with storage is CoachSupplyDirect.com. You can see some of the RV couches with storage they sell here.
The price of RV furniture can be quite frankly shocking, especially considering how RV sofas are often uncomfortable to sit on…
…and in my humble opinion, ugly! 😬
That's why I and many other RV owners have chosen to replace our worn out, uncomfortable, or outdated RV furniture with residential RV furniture, which offers a lot more options when it comes to style, color, and function.
In this article, I'll share couches in various sizes and styles I've found for sale online that feature hidden storage compartments, making them ideal to put in an RV.
But first, I want to address a few concerns people often bring up at the mention of using residential furniture inside an RV.
Questions & Answers About Putting a Residential Sofa in an RV
Q: How do you fit the new couch through the door of the RV?
A: If you order a couch online (or purchase one from Ikea), it will most likely come unassembled, so you can put it together after it's already inside the RV.
Q: How do you prevent residential furniture from sliding around while the RV is in motion?
A: Most couches are heavy enough that they'll stay put if they're sitting on carpet, but if you have vinyl flooring or want to be sure the RV sofa doesn't move, you can screw D rings to the floor of your RV, just like the ones RV manufacturers use, and then you can use straps to tie down the furniture.
Q: Will replacing my RV furniture with residential furniture hurt its resale value?
A: If you're replacing a brand new sofa that came with your RV, then yes, anything that alters your RV from its original factory state can hurt the value, especially if you're trading it in at a dealership. But if you're replacing old, worn-out RV furniture, you'll likely be increasing the RV's value.
One thing to keep in mind is that reducing the sleeping capacity of your RV can possibly decrease its value. I would suggest looking on Facebook Marketplace or checking a local RV salvage yard for a used RV sofa to put in your RV if the couch you've chosen becomes an issue for selling.
Q: Won't residential furniture be too heavy for an RV?
A: Actually, most of the residential sofas on this list are lighter than many RV sofas. It is important to be mindful of staying within your RV's cargo weight limit, as well as not drastically altering the original weight distribution, so I've list the weight of each sofa mentioned in this article where possible.
Note: I do my best to keep my RV furniture articles up-to-date. If you find a sofa on this list that's out of stock, please leave a comment to let me know!
Loveseat with Hidden Storage
Length: 64 inches
Weight: 114.2 pounds
Color Options: Dark Gray or Off White
If you're looking for a replacement RV sofa with storage that's cheaper and more comfortable than standard RV furniture this small sofa with hidden storage would make a great choice. It's the same size as most RV sofas but has a more contemporary look. Though you would lose the option of the extra bed, you would gain additional storage, located under the seat of this couch.
Futon with Storage Under Seat
Length: 81.5 inches
Weight: 108 pounds
Color Options: Light Gray Velvet, Black Faux Leather, or Tan Faux Leather
If you're looking for an RV sofa with storage that can still be used as a bed, this futon might serve that purpose. It comes in three colors, and the seat lifts up to reveal storage space underneath. The bed part is just 70″ long, so taller adults won't fit on it, but it would work just fine for kids, and if you ever sell your RV, it won't decrease your RV's sleeping capacity.
Wood Futon with Storage Drawers
Length: 82 inches
Weight: 211 pounds
Cushion Color Options: Gray, Brown, Black, Beige, Navy, and more
You may be thinking a couch made of wood would be far too heavy for an RV, but this wood futon with storage drawers and flip-up end tables is actually not much heavier than many RV sofas, which range in weight from around 150-200 pounds.
The aesthetic of this wooden futon gives rustic hunting lodge vibes, which you'll probably either love or hate. This particular sofa has several options to choose from for the cushion/mattress color, and if you prefer a different color of wood there are lots of sofas similar to this one available online.
Chaise Sleeper Sectional with Storage
Length: 86 inches
Weight: 192 pounds
Color Options: Light Gray or Dark Gray
This sofa is definitely on the larger size for an RV couch, but if you have a long slide it may fit, especially if you replace your dinette with a smaller table or desk. The configuration can be reversed to put the chaise on either end.
Not only is there lots of storage space under the seats and chaise, it converts to a full-sized bed large enough for an averaged-size adult. To browse other sleeper sofas similar in style to this one, click here.
King Sized Sleeper Sofa with Storage
Length: 81.1 inches
Weight: Not listed
Color Options: Sky blue or light gray (other styles & colors available as well)
The website Homary.com sells lots of really interesting, modern sofas like the one shown above that fold out to a bed that will easily sleep two adults and feature a storage compartment as well. You can see one of their smaller (67 inch) sofas here, and browse their full collection here.
Twin Daybed with Drawers
Length: 79 inches
Weight: 50 pounds (without mattress)
Size Options: Twin or full sized bed
Color Options: Gray or Blue
If someone in your household will be sleeping on your RV sofa as their regular bed, you may want to consider an option that will be more comfortable than most sleeper sofas. This daybed can be used with any twin-sized mattress, and would make a comfortable place to sit with some throw pillows along the back for support. It features two large drawers for added storage.
Pull-Out Daybed with Drawers
Length: 72.2 inches
Weight: 106 pounds (without mattress)
This daybed would be the same size as the one above when used as a couch, but it pulls out to double the bed width, making it a king sized bed. This would be great for a full-time RVing family with parents who sleep in the living room.
The mattresses for this bed would need to be purchased separately. You could use two thin twin-sized mattresses and stack them during the day, or you could use one standard twin mattress plus one that folds up when not in use.
Modular Sofa with Storage Under Seats and Inside Ottomans
The option I'm offering for your consideration is a modular sofa that comes with one or two matching storage ottomans to create an L-shaped sofa or chaise lounge. You can purchase either 2 or 3 of the seats, making either a loveseat or a full-sized 3-person sofa.
Option 1 – See it here
Length: 57″ for the loveseat, 85″ for the 3-seat sofa
Weight: Not listed – reviewer said it was “lightweight”
Color Options: Gray, Dark Gray, or Light Beige
Option 2 – See it here
Length: 63″ for the loveseat, 89″ for the 3-seat sofa
Weight: Not specified, listing calls it “sturdy” and “heavy”
Color Options: Light teal, Blue, or Gray
Option 3 – See it here
Length: 57″ for the loveseat, 81″ for the 3-seat sofa, also available with 5 or 6 seats for an L-shaped configuration
Weight: 250 pounds is listed for all sizes (need to inquire for correct weight)
Color Options: Dark Gray or Light Gray

Been looking for a replacement sectional in a fabric for more than a year now…still nothing!
You and put a regular small sofa in as a replace meant just measure the area and a sofa. Or love seat. That’s what I’m doing now
Hope this helps. Thanks MC
Did you problems getting thru the door?
Recpro
We needed more sleeping space as well as sitting space so I bought a sofa bed. I have chosen Thomas Payne 379929 Tri-fold RV Sofa Bed. It was very easy to install, fit thru my doorway easily, and is very comfy. The fabric seems durable, and is very nice quality. When we expand the tri-fold to make it into a bed, it is surprisingly comfortable and very easy to do.
Thanks for the recommendation!
I want to change my bedroom in my 25 ft rv, I want my bed to go from bed to kind of like a futon couch. My bed is a queen size and their is no room to even take 2 steps.. one thing I noticed my fuse box and a plug in is under bed.
Does any one have any ideas or where I can go for helo
Perhaps you could build a smaller couch-sized box to cover the fuse box and then put a daybed or futon on top of it with a pull-out or fold-out frame? If you don’t have the skills to design it yourself, I would look for someone who specializes in RV modifications. I have a list here that would be a good starting point to find someone like that.
I have a walk-around queen and would like to use it as a couch during the day. Is there an inflatable sofa back and arm set that would fit over the foot of the mattress and use the mattress as the sofa seat?
Hmm, I have never seen a product exactly like that! If you find one let me know! Maybe something like this would work?
