Don’t let the year fool you! This 2000 Monaco has been transformed into a bright and modern oasis with this coastal RV renovation. This complete gut job includes all new custom cabinetry, floors, and an open layout design.

Before: Dark and Dated

Prior to renovation, the cabinets were a darker wood, and it made the whole living space seem smaller and less inviting.

After: A Coastal RV Renovation

Adding new pale oak flooring and white custom cabinets all around created a gorgeous and bright living space.

To create a seamless transition between the main floor and the slide out floor, the owners used this stair nosing to cap the slide’s edges. You can find similar flooring at Lowe’s and use this interior paint from Benjamin Moore in “Decorator’s White” on the cabinets to create a long-lasting finish.

A Custom Sofa with Storage

The original floorplan of this RV included two built-in tables. These were ripped out and replaced with a custom-built sofa with plenty of storage below. The drawers are actually IKEA over-fridge cabinets that were repurposed! They found a maker similar to this one on Etsy to get just the right fit for the cushions.

Across from the new sofa, you can see a gorgeous tabletop with barstools where the old sofa used to live.  It not only serves as an excellent workspace but also as a handy extension for the kitchen counter. It also includes more storage underneath. All the countertops are pine-stained plywood with 7 coats of sealer vs. the heavier butcher block alternative.

They built custom bunk beds next to the sofa (which also doubles as an extra bed) and across from the kitchen.  Perfect for little travelers, or they could even double as extra storage space nooks.

They chose the largest stainless steel sink they could find, similar to this one on Amazon. The gorgeous sea blue backsplash is peel-and-stick tiles like these from Amazon.

The adorable fruit hammock hanging above is a nod to boating life and a perfect way to keep your delicate items out of the way but in easy access. Another great organizing trick they used was mounting these plastic floating baskets from IKEA.

An RV With A Custom Pantry

See the pantry doors that extend out from the edge of that slide? That used to be a wall! Instead of doors, there were small drawers you could pull out for spices and dry goods.

The renovators knew that the space could be much better utilized. They removed the drawers, capped the end piece with a single sheet of wood, and then cut custom doors for easier access to the pantry (and the ability to store larger items!).

Before & After: The Bathroom

The bathroom in the middle of the rig was very dark and uninviting, but they completely freshened up the place in style.

The sink was updated, and they installed this antique-looking faucet from Amazon as a nod to the NE coastal designs. A lovely dark blue accent color sets the bathroom cabinet apart from the rest of the living space.

Another unique touch is that instead of using shiplap, they made their own out of Luan pieces of plywood, cutting grooves with a saw, and then painting. This made installation easier and more lightweight. Stopping them halfway up the wall like wainscoting gave another style nod to the Northeast.

You can get strips of Luan at a hardware store like Home Depot. For the floor, they used peel-and-stick tiles similar to these on Etsy.

Before & After: The Bedroom

What a difference it made to the stateroom by updating the cabinets and painting everything white. The headboard for the bed before was a mirror. They took that out and built a gorgeous custom pine wood headboard in its place.

The fronts of the two bedside cabinet doors have a lovely cane insert that gives a beachy feel. They used this chair cane from Amazon to create the effect.

They flipped the rest of the cabinet doors around, painted them, and then updated the hardware so that the design touches would be seamless throughout.

Do you see how they continued the wainscoting from the bathroom into the stateroom? A lovely touch to make it feel even more like a coastal home.

Finally, they added these custom blackout roll-down blinds from Amazon for privacy and comfort at night.
